Your New Google Pixel and Security Checkup
As we move to a common device in Google Pixel, we want to make sure employees understand how to use special features and personalize their device. With that, we will take this time to give employees their initial bi-monthly security check-in.
Problem:
As a part of the provided smartphone program from the company, employees are given the option to choose a Google Pixel. Employees, mostly having iPhones, are unfamiliar with Android. This course is an opportunity for them to understand Android, set up their phone, and review online security.
Solution:
This training accommodates learners from two paths: those familiar with Android and those who are not. For those who are not, they will be guided on a brief path to acquaint themselves with differences in the software.
Once these slides are completed, they are led to the main slides for Pixel setup and distinct features on this phone. Each of the features will be tied to a security lesson and assessment.
Just as a note: the Pixel setup is not expanded upon as the phone walks users through it. This will save the learners time and not insult them.
Result:
Users will be able to safely navigate their Pixel and any Android application downloaded. With this, the participant will have reviewed, and hopefully adapted, standards for password strength, public WiFi, and some quality of life features now at their disposal.
Highlights:
Learners choose a character to represent them telling their story of setting up their Pixel and reacquaint themselves with security.
Users that have not used Android are able to take a path that highlights differences between it and iOS. Those that have experience are able to bypass this straight to the setup scene.
A matching activity that asks learners to match specific application tiles with the operating system. This uses the theme of freedom and openness in Android vs. iOS specific applications.
Biometric login is demonstrated through the user doing a drag and drop activity to set up both their fingerprint and facial login.
Several websites, Email addresses, and phone numbers are shown asking the learner to choose the legitimate ones over the scams.
